Avis de décès : Mme Barbara St. Amand (Nezat) (1941-10-11 - 2022-10-04)

Barbara St. Amand Nezat passed away on October 4, 2022 at the age of 80. A long-time resident of Belle Chasse, LA. Barbara was born in Opelousas on October 11, 1941.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Charles Lee Nezat. Her parents: James J. and Marie Richard St. Amand; sisters: Mrs. Gerald (Dorothy) Ledoux, Mrs. Frank (Ruth) Cambre, Mrs. Frank (Florence) Wood; brothers: James St. Amand Jr., and Martin St. Amand. She is survived by her children, Karen Carbo (Michael) and Bradley Nezat, her grandchildren Olivia Fabacher, Leighton Carbo and Wesley Carbo. Great-grandchildren Claire Carbo and Harrison Holland.

Barbara graduated from Opelousas High School and attended University of Southwestern Louisiana and Our Lady of Holy Cross College where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education. She earned her Master's Degree in Education from the University of New Orleans. She was a retired school teacher who had taught at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in Belle Chasse and Belle Chasse Elementary. She was a former member of the Belle Chasse Garden Club, The Westbank Art Guild, The Jazzy Belles Chapter of the Red Hat Society, La. Retired Teachers Association and the National Kappa Kappa Iota (Alpha Tau Chapter) Teachers Sorority, the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Altar Society and was also a Eucharistic Minister.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a funeral Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Belle Chasse on Thursday, October 13 at 11:00 am. Visitation from 9 to 11 am. Interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, LA.
