Avis de décès : M. Richard A. St. Amand (1938-02-03 - 2022-08-18)

In the care of Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home - Wiegand Chapel

Richard A. St. Amand, 84, of Sarasota, FL passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 18, 2022. He was born in Hartford, CT on February 3, 1938, son of late Robert and Hellen (Tebbets) St. Amand.

Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1960 - 1962. He then went to work for the Hartford Post Office, where he worked until his retirement. After retiring, he moved to warm and sunny Florida, where he continued his many hobbies. He loved to golf, fish, bowl, bike ride and go to the beach, where he maintained his perpetual dark tan, and searched for large unique shells and sharks teeth. He was also proud to show off his talent on how to crack open a lobster. He loved his lobster. If he saw anyone struggling to crack their lobster he would offer his assistance and give them a lobster cracking lesson! Last, but certainly not least, was his love of baseball! Go Yankees! He couldn’t wait to go to spring training to watch the players and get autographs on baseballs and bats.

Richard leaves many who loved him and will be dearly missed. He is survived by his four children, Karen and Kevin Brett of East Windsor, CT; Stephen and Maureen St. Amand of Palmetto, FL; Denise and Jim Pandolfo of Rocky Hill, CT; Kevin and Michelle St. Amand of South Windsor, CT. He also leaves many grandchildren, Ashley (husband Eric) Bolella, Melissa Desilet, Zachary St. Amand Tyler St. Amand, Luke St. Amand, Samantha (husband Carson) Bailey, Jake St. Amand and Max St. Amand and his great grandchildren Jackson and Skylar. He also leaves his brothers, Robert and Nita St. Amand of Torrance, CA and David St. Amand of Bristol, CT, and many nieces and nephews.

Dad lived a full and happy life. The family would like to thank all the VA Doctors, nurses and hospice staff and those at Freedom Square who cared for him. You gave us peace knowing he was in good hands. We also would like to thank all the caring folks at the VA Fisher House of Bay Pines for giving us a place of comfort when we needed it most.
