Age 69, Chester Basin passed away June 10, 2022 in Bridgewater.
She was the daughter of the late Raymond and Lucille Gardner (Oxner). Born June 8, 1953 in Brandford, Ont., Mary grew up in New Glasgow and Halifax. She graduated from Queen Elizabeth High School in 1971; next, St. Francis Xavier University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and Acadia University with a B.Ed in special education.
Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband, Ray, in 2021. Survived by her son, Steven Gardner St. Amand; her sister, Beverley Benjamin (Gordon, deceased) in Yarmouth; and extended family.
She worked as a teacher/substitute-teacher in Pictou, Kings and Lunenburg Counties, and worked for the Lunenburg/Queens Action Council for people with disabilities in Bridgewater for seven years.
Mary loved to crochet and do crafts, and was always interested in helping people with disabilities.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
