Avis de décès : Mme Jeanne Elizabeth "Betty" St. Amant (Gravelle) (1932-09-17 - 2022-02-27)

It is with sadness that we announce the death of Betty Gravelle (née Jeanne Elizabeth St. Amant) in her 90th year, on February 27, 2022. She was a deeply devout Roman Catholic and will be remembered for the compassion she showed throughout her life. She regularly welcomed people, who would otherwise be alone, into our home and made sure everyone had a place they belonged and felt at peace. It was her nature to accept everyone as they were, regardless of their beliefs, orientation, or culture.

Betty knew how to throw a party. Friends and family enjoyed good times and the copious amounts of food she prepared. Preparing food together was half the fun. She will also be remembered for her beautiful quilts which will spread her warmth for many years to come. We love her dearly and will miss her and are comforted by the knowledge that she had a life well-lived.

Betty is predeceased by her husband Captain Bernard 'Pop' Gravelle, and her siblings, Bernard (Kay), Richard (Frances), Lawrence (Helen), Margaret (Claire Edgar), Gerard (Stella), Marie (Lionel LaCroix), Anne and Oswald. She is survived by her sisters-in-law Annette St. Amant and Anita Lamoureux. Betty is the loving mother of Michèle Zeller (Peter), Robert Gravelle (Rosa), Peter Gravelle, Annette Blackwell (Rick), Louise Gravelle (Lee Miller), Jeanne Gravelle (Joe Boccanfuso). She is the adored mémère to Lubov, Ludmilla, Violetta, Irina, Daniil, and Artyom Zeller, Adam and Christina Gravelle, Christopher Blackwell, Andrew, Bryce, and Cailey Miller and Paul, Anthony and Michael Boccanfuso. She is also grand-mémère to Konstantine and Karina Zeller, and Rosina Zeller-Fleming.

Betty’s funeral will be held at St. Anne’s Church 28 Robert Street West, Penetanguishene on Friday, March 4th, 2022 at 10:30 am. Visitation will be at the Penetanguishene Funeral Home on Thursday, March 3rd. Due to COVID restrictions, visitation will be by invitation only. For the safety of our family and yours, we ask that masks are worn at all times. For those who cannot attend, a live streaming of Betty's Funeral Mass can be viewed at the following link. http://www.livememorialservices.com/Home/ServiceDetail/20032.

In lieu of flowers, we would appreciate a donation to Madonna House or St. Vincent de Paul, St. Ann's foodbank.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Nurses and Staff at Georgian Village Assisted Living for being so kind to us and for taking such good care of our mother throughout her time there. The Gravelle Family.
