It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Fernando Nicodemo on October 27, 2021, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 72.

He leaves behind his wife of over 52 years, Louise St-Amand, his children Tina (Dale Braun), Anthony (Mai Miyake) and Marco, his grandchildren Jacob, Erica, Sophie and Layla, his siblings Lina Cacchione, Nicky, Dominique and Carmine, and many nieces and nephews and other family and friends across Canada, USA, Italy, England, and Japan.

Fernando worked as a Publicist for the Journal de Montreal where he was a champion for his fellow colleagues in his role as President of the Publicist Association. He led many successful contract negotiations over the years, ensuring a fair and equitable result for all involved. The impact of his work continues to benefit others to this day. His colleagues remember him fondly as a gentleman who was honest, dedicated, hard working and who was always available to all in need and very respectful of everyone in all roles at the newspaper.

He loved to travel, golf, learn, engage in lively debate and bring together family and friends to share good food and laughter. He was most passionate about spending time in nature. In his retirement, he volunteered his time to many events and causes in Val Morin, such as the Ice Fishing Festival, Cycling and Cross-Country Skiing Competitions, the Val Morin Theatre, Food Pantry and more. His friends in the area know him affectionately as one of the Gator Boys. These are small glimpses into what he loved in this world. He will be remembered as someone who was loyal, creative, generous, and loving. The wonderful relationships that filled his life reflected the authentic and kind person that he was. He will be dearly missed.

The family wishes to thank all his physicians and the medical staff in Ste-Agathe and St-Jerome, especially Dr. Alexandre Chouinard and Sonia, Jeannie, Mike and the entire nursing and support team at the CLSC in Ste-Agathe for their empathy, compassion and steadfast care during his battle with cancer. We encourage donations to the Cancer Research Society or the charity of your choice in Fernando's memory.

The family will receive condolences on Thursday, November 4, 2021, from 1:00-4:00 p.m., as well as Friday, November 5, 2021, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. and 1:00-3:00 p.m., followed by a celebration of life at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home of: Maison Trudel, 400 Place du Cure Labelle, Saint-Jerome, 450-438-1234 www.maisontrudel.com
