Funeral services for Marie Fontenot Langlois will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 29, 2021, in the Skip Montet Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas, La. Monsignor Keith J. DeRouen conduct the funeral service. Burial will be held in the St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery in Abbeville, La.br/>
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marie Fontenot Langlois, age 84, of Opelousas, La. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home.
br/>Marie lived most of her life in Abbeville, La. and for the past 19 years lived in Opelousas, La. She was a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. She taught second grade catechism for many years when she lived in Abbeville.
She enjoyed playing bingo at the Council on Aging, cooking and doing puzzle books. She loved camping and traveling with her family. She enjoyed spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren.
Marie will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Harold Langlois of Opelousas, La.; her sons, David Langlois and wife, Celeste of Madison, Miss., Dwayne Langlois of Carencro, La., Timothy Langlois of Alexandria, La.; her daughters, Toni Langlois of Opelousas, La. and Stacie Clement and husband, Gerald of Youngsville, La. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents, Kirby J. Fontenot and Carmen St. Amand Fontenot; her sister, Katherine Richard; her brother, Kenneth Fontenot and her daughter-in-law, Ruthie Langlois.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary being prayed at 6:00 p.m. by Deacon Jerome Collins. The funeral home will reopen on Thursday, April 29, 2021 from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
