Umberto V. Regine, 77, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Kent Hospital in Warwick, RI. He was the husband of Denise F. (St. Amand) Regine of West Greenwich, RI. Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late Raffaele and Josephine (Coppa) Regine.

Umberto(Al) was a first-generation Italian-American and grew up in a humble home with old world Italian traditions. Those traditions carried over into his adulthood and he never lost the knowledge of speaking his native language, Italian, and was proud of his heritage.

He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed football and baseball. Following the New York Yankees was his passion and would talk to anyone about his beloved team. He loved following horse racing and particularly enjoyed watching live in Florida and Saratoga Springs, NY.

After serving in Germany in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, he obtained his Associates Degree from Johnson & Wales University began a career in auto sales before retiring in 2006.

When not working, Al found great joy spending time with family and friends while also doing some traveling. He especially loved visiting Italy and Florida. Al prided himself as the best southern Italian cook and really enjoyed cooking for his family.

He is survived by his wife Denise, son: David Regine of West Warwick, RI, his brother: Ralph Regine of Providence, RI and predeceased by three brothers: Nicholas, Frank and Michael Regine. He also leaves 3 sisters in law along with and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Funeral from Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick on Wednesday, September 18 at 9:30 a.m. which will be followed with A Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Saints John & Paul Church, 341 South Main Street, Coventry, RI. Burial to follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston, RI. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
