Avis de décès : M. Dalton J. Sonnier ( - 2019-01-19)

Funeral services will be conduced for Dalton J. Sonnier, 79, at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Alexander Albert officiating. Interment will follow in St. John Mausoleum with Military Honors conducted by the Iberia Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at 10:00 AM until 2:15 PM. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Tuesday at 6:30 PM.

A native of Kaplan and a resident of Jeanerette for many years, Mr. Sonnier passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at 8:20 PM at St. Joseph Hospice/The Carpenter House in Lafayette.

Mr. Sonnier proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era and was a member of the V.F.W. Post in Jeanerette. At the conclusion of his service he followed in his father's footsteps at J&L Engineering in Jeanerette. After over 35 years dedicated to J&L and the local sugarcane industry, he happily retired to pursue his true joy in life, camping and traveling with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gaynell Hebert Sonnier of Jeanerette; his mother, Louise St. Amant Sonnier of Jeanerette; his daughter, Lynelle Sonnier of Lafayette; his son, Nelson "Bubba" Sonnier and his wife Amy of Jeanerette and his granddaughter, Robyn Sonnier of Lafayette. He was preceded in death by his father, Oneil Sonnier.

Pallbearers will be Robert Crutchfield, Brent Robicheaux, Whitey Daigle, Richard Pepper, Frank Guiberteau, J. B. Rosamond, Brian Crutchfield and Davy Bonin. Honorary pallbearers will be Gerald Hebert, Ronald Dubois, Cameron Poimbeouf, Barry Broussard, Ross Landry and Robert Judice.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to St. Joseph Hospice/The Carpenter House, Grace Home Health, Dr. Moses Kitakule, Dr. Johnathan Thompson, Dr. Georgios Constantinou and his faithful friends and neighbors.
