Hugh R. St. Amant, 79, of Prairieville LA, formerly of St. Amant LA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday December 12, 2018 at 3:30 PM. Hugh passed away peacefully at his residence in Prairieville with his family, under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice.
Hugh was a longtime member of New River Baptist Church and his Christian walk of Faith was visible every day in his actions and Loving care to his wife Kernan.
Hugh and Kernan were High School sweethearts and their ineffable Love for one another was apparent each and every day as they celebrated 60 Loving Years of marriage December of this year.
Born March 9, 1939, to V.J. St. Amant SR. and Rita St. Amant, Hugh spent his childhood in St. Amant, LA., then moved to Baton Rouge where he graduated from Istrouma High School in 1957. Hugh devoted his life to being a loving and caring Husband and Father while working for Genesco as a regional store Manager for 40 years before retiring.
He was preceded in death by, his parents V.J. and Rita St. Amant. He is survived by wife Kernan St. Amant, three (3) children, Terry St. Amant, Kevin St. Amant, and Darren St. Amant of Baton Rouge; brother V.J St. Amant JR., sister Lucille Dunigan, both of St. Amant LA, and five (5) grandchildren, Jake St. Amant, Cassie St. Amant, Jordan St. Amant, Alexandra St. Amant Marteniz, Matthew St. Amant and two (2) Great grandchildren Elliette Martinez and Rylan Martinez.
Many Thanks go out to Hugh's Physicians DR. Terry Zelmer and DR. Herschel B. Dean along with many others who kept him strong enough to remain in our lives for as long as he could. Also, many thanks to the staff of St. Joseph Hospice who allowed him to pass in peace onto his next Journey in Spirit.
He will Forever be Loved and missed.
Arrangements made by Church Funeral Services and at Hugh's request a small Private Service will be held for Family members.
