Avis de décès : M. Dick O'Dair (1928-06-28 - 2018-08-09)

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Dick D. O’Dair, was called back to his heavenly home, August 9, 2018. His was 90 years young.

Dick was born June 28, 1928, in Page Springs, Arizona, to Ted O’Dair, alias, Rudolph Allie, and Lula Jane Coombs. He was the oldest child with two younger sisters, Donna Lou and Patsy. His family settled in Prescott, Arizona. Dick enjoyed high school and participating in athletic activities. He joined the air force in 1949 and was sent to England where he met the girl that would be his wife, his best friend and true companion for 66 years, Grace Alma Taylor. Dick and Grace were married January 19, 1952, in Rochdale, England. May 21, 1954 was a special day for Dick and Grace as they were sealed for time and eternity in the Mesa Arizona Temple. Dick and Grace had three children Paul, Gail Ann, and Lynn. Dick graduated from NAU and began a career teaching 5th and 6th grades for the Flagstaff Public Schools, he taught for 33 years. He loved teaching and loved the students he taught. Dick continued his own education and earn a masters degree at NAU. During the summers he worked for the forest service and ran the swimming programs for Flagstaff.

Dick loved raising his family in Flagstaff. He enjoyed hiking, swimming and being outdoors with his family. Dick was very involved in the BSA, he was a scout master for 8 years and help build Camp Raymond.

Dick was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints he loved serving other people and was a great example of living a Christian life. Dick liked people and saw the good in everyone, he could make a stranger a friend in five minutes, consequently, he had friends everywhere.

After retirement he and Grace were called to work in the Mesa Temple, later they served a mission in Preston, England, as temple workers. Dick lived a full and happy life, he touched the lives of so many for good, he leaves a legacy of love, and service, he has returned home to his Father in Heaven, “Well, done my good and faithful servant.”

Dick is survived by his wife Grace (Taylor) O’Dair, sister Donna Colt. Children Paul O’Dair and wife Dorinda (Brewer); Gail Ann Stallings and husband Ben; and Lynn Anderson and husband Daniel; 17 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

The viewing will be held Wednesday, August 15, at the Norvel Owens Mortuary from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 16, at the Lake Mary LDS Chapel, at 10:00 am with a viewing from 9:00 – 9:45 am.
