Joseph "J.C." Cecil Mathis, resident and native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018, at the age of 75 years old. He was a master carpenter who spent many years executing his talents. > J.C. is survived by his wife of 49 years, Charlotte St. Amant; children, Stephanie Carpenter (Malcolm); Monique Brown (Stephen); and Joseph "Ted" Mathis (Keisa); grandchildren, Stephen III, Mathis, Amaya, Aubrey and Ava; sister, Emma Depland (Baton Rouge, LA); and brother, George Mathis (Fullerton, CA). He is preceded in death by his parents Wilmer and Rosalie Mathis; brother Leonard Mathis; and sister, Christa Haydel. Visitation will be Friday at St. Jude Catholic Church, 9150 Highland Rd, from 1pm-3pm, with rosary at 2:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 3pm.
