Gary W. Paulson, 75, of Willmar died Saturday, June 10th at his home.

His funeral service will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 24th at Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery in Minneapolis at a later date. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.

Memorials may be given to Bethel Lutheran Church or Bethel Lutheran Choir.

Gary Ward Paulson was born November 5, 1941, in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Warren and Leona (Ward) Paulson. Gary grew up in nordeast Minneapolis and graduated from Columbia Heights High School in 1959. He was a member of the MN National Guard. He attended Augsburg College and the University of MN, where he earned a Master’s Degree in Business. On October 5, 1968, Gary was united in marriage to Millie St. Amant at St. Odilia Church and School in Shoreview. Following their marriage, they lived in Roseville and St. Peter, before moving to Willmar in 1970. Gary was hired as a business instructor at Ridgewater College, (formerly Willmar Area Vocational Technical Institute, WAVTI), where he taught until his retirement in 1999.

Gary was baptized in 1941, and confirmed in 1955, at First Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, where he had been active in choir, with church council and call committee. Over the years, Gary was also active with the Jaycees, Kiwanis and the Elks.

Following their retirement, Gary and Millie enjoyed wintering in Naples, FL. But most of all, looked forward to the time spent with their children and grandchildren.

Surviving are his children: Christopher (and Stephanie) Paulson of Edina; Marna (and Mike) Huffman of Willmar; and four grandchildren: Reina, Marcus, Maggie and Olivia. Also surviving are his sister, Durene Jackson of Minnetonka; and several nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Millie on November 2, 2016, and daughter, Jennifer.
