Avis de décès : Mme Doradeese "Deese" Poirrier (Rook) ( - 2017-02-08)

Doradeese "Deese" Bernadette Poirrier Rook, a resident of Norco, LA, entered eternal rest peacefully on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at the age of 93. Daughter of the late Vivian Hebert Poirrier St. Amant and Michel Joseph Poirrier. Adopted daughter of the late John O. St. Amant.

She will be dearly missed by her husband of 67 years William A. Rook. Devoted and proud mother of John E. Rook (Mary), William R. Rook (Becky), Kathleen A. Rook, Cynthia M. Lawless (Brian), Margaret "Peggy" M. Miano (Kerry), and Elizabeth "Betty" B. Farwell (Gary). Lovingly called "Granny" by 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Also survived by 4 nieces and 3 nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Vivian "Tuttie" Poirrier Dutt and brother-in-law Dale K. Dutt.

Deese graduated from Destrehan High School in 1941, and Charity School of Nursing in 1943. She enjoyed a long career as a nurse and retired from Shell Oil Company.

The family wishes to express appreciation for the care and compassion of Deese's caretakers Paige, Denise, Jolynn, Jernise, "Tokie", "Dee", "Tina", Pam, TroyAnn, Karen, the staff of Norco Adult Daycare, and the staff of Notre Dame Hospice Anne Marie, Barbara, "Trinnie", and Sister Paula.

Deese greatly enjoyed her yard always in bloom, cooking, baking, and sewing for her family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 401 Spruce St. Norco, LA, on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 11 AM. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM at the church. Interment to follow at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum, 13396 River Rd. Destrehan, LA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests Masses, or memorial contributions to Notre Dame Hospice, 1000 Howard Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70113.
