Armand R. Parenteau, 89, of Enfield, entered into eternal life Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield. He was the beloved husband of Vilma (Elkanich) Parenteau. Armand was born Jan. 1, 1928, in Chicopee, Massachusetts, to the late Aimee and Clara (St. Amand) Parenteau. Armand resided in Enfield for the past 53 years.

He served his country proudly during World War II with the U.S. Navy. Prior to retiring Armand was employed for 30 years with Hamilton Standard/Sundstrand. He enjoyed going on many cruises with Vilma after retirement, and also enjoyed being outdoors working in his yard and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Armand was a member of both former AARPs of Enfield.

Besides his wife of 64 years, Vilma, he is survived by his children, Gene Parenteau and wife, Suzanne, of Enfield, Dennis Parenteau of Springfield, Cynthia Griffin and husband, Zed, of Southampton, Massachusetts, and Lisa Badeau, of Enfield; his beloved grandchildren, Nicholas Badeau, Jocelyn Badeau, Kyle Griffin, and Cody Griffin. He is also survived by a sister, Patricia Fredette, of Holyoke, Massachusetts; along with many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by three siblings, Simone Bouthiller, Robert Parenteau, and Rita Dahlke.

Relatives and friends may gather with Armand's family during calling hours Friday, Jan. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 7, with the funeral procession forming at 9:30 a.m. to St. Bernard Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. followed by military honors.
