Avis de décès : Mme Virginia Martha Thibodeau (St-Amand) (1925-05-02 - 2016-12-28)

WATERBURY, Conn. - Martha passed away Wednesday Dec. 28, 2016, in Waterbury, Conn. Martha was born on May 2, 1925, in Millinocket. She was the daughter of the late Edith Ouellette and Louis Thibodeau.

She was raised in Maine and graduated from Winslow High School with the class of 1944. She retired from G.E. In 1947 she married her high school sweetheart Leon and moved to Bristol, Conn. They built their home there and raised their two children. While raising their family (and way beyond) they spent at least two weeks every summer and many long weekends at the family camp on Unity Pond.

She is survived by her daughter Sharon; her sister Georgette (Richard) Dawn of Florida, Theresa (Alphonse) LePage of Winslow; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Leon; son Michael; brother Leon and sister-in-law Mary, and her sister Patricia Lessard.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017 at the Shrine of St Anne in Waterbury, Conn.


My mom and best friend, Virginia Martha (Thibodeau) St.Amand has been reunited in God's magnificent heaven, with her husband Leon and son Michael. She passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at the age of 91, while in the caring hands of the staff of North Two at Waterbury Gardens.

She was born on 5/2/1925 in Millenocket Maine to Louis and Edith (Ouellette) Thibodeau. In 1947, she married her sweetheart Leon St. Amand and moved to Bristol Connecticut where they made their home. They had two children, Michael Louis St. Amand and Sharon Starr St. Amand. After retiring from General Electric, she spent winters traveling to Florida with her husband of 60 years.

Besides myself, she leaves her sisters Theresa (Babe) LePage of Winslow Maine and Georgette (Dick) Dwan of Port Richey Florida. She also leaves her God child Virginia Lee St.Onge, her special "niece" Bonnie-Marie Jenkins along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Lee, son Michael, two sisters Arlene Thibodeau and Patricia (John) Lessard and her brother Joseph (Kit) Thibodeau.

As per her wishes, there will be no wake. A Funeral Mass with her cremains will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. at The Shrine of St Anne, 515 South Main Street, Waterbury, Connecticut. The Prospect Memorial Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.

Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Paul Catholic High School, 1001 Stafford Avenue, Bristol, CT 06010 in memory of Michael St. Amand.
