The family announces, with great sadness, his passing at Health Sciences North on Sunday, December 18th, 2016 at the age of 77 years, surrounded by his loving family. Survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Yolande Chevrette (Michaud). Loving father of Lise Hirschfeld, and special son-in-law, Greg Hirschfeld, and son, Pierre Chevrette. G-Pa had a special and loving bond with his grandsons, Spencer and Colin Hirschfeld. Son of Valeda (St. Amand), and Louis Chevrette (both predeceased). Dear brother of Rena Read, Hector Chevrette (Aileen), Irene Fielding (Rodney), Alfred Chevrette (Diane), Denise Gross (Garry), and Diane Chevrette (Dave). He will be remembered by his wife’s family as a caring, and giving person. Best friends of Ron and Diane Warbrick. George worked at the city of Sudbury, and then retired from Glencore, after 30 years of service. He was a volunteer fire fighter, and a union steward, while residing in Falconbridge. He was an avid fisherman & hunter. George enjoyed 10 years of camping on Lake Mindemoya, at the Mitchell’s camp, before purchasing his own cottage at Agnew Lake. He had many fond memories from Lake Agnew, with family and friends. George loved his 15 years at the Holiday Travel Park, in Florida. He loved the warm weather, and couldn’t wait to escape from the winter. At George’s request, there will be no funeral visitation or service. A Celebration of his Life will take place at his cottage, next summer. A special thank you to Tamara, from CCAC, and Care Partners, who gave George the most amazing care during the last 3 years. Thank you to Dr. Roch, for his support, and to the staff on South Tower, 6th floor, for being so compassionate. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, or Heart and Stroke Association, would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home.
