South Bend - Terry Allen St. Thomas, 47, passed away peacefully Monday, November 28, 2016 in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. He was born July 31, 1969 in Caribou, ME to Delores (Dion) St. Amand, and has lived his entire lifetime in the South Bend area. On November 18, 2006 in South Bend, Terry married the former Jacqueline Thomas, who survives. In addition to his loving wife Jacqueline, he is survived by their son, Harrison Alan St. Thomas of South Bend; and one brother, Michael (Melissa) St. Amand of Mishawaka. Terry earned his Associate's Degree from Pace University and worked as a technician for AT&T, Inc. prior to becoming ill. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. Terry was so much more than the dates and facts of his life. He was the good Samaritan - ready to help in any way that he could without ever having to ask him. Problems were fixable. He would assess whatever it was - whether a physical project or a life dilemma - figure it out and take care of it. Terry had a curious mind that never tired of learning the “why” of things, and it seemed to cover all subjects. He was as interested in what kind of tree to plant as he was about the WWII planes flown by the US Air Force. Quietly and anonymously, Terry would always pick up the dinner check of any veteran's table he saw dining at a restaurant. Terry was a patriot. Hands down, Terry had the quickest wit around. He and Jackie were like the great comedic couples. It was fun to be their audience. Holidays are celebrated BIG in the St. Thomas household; never too many decorations, too many treats, too much laughter. In fact, returning home from a recent stay in the hospital on Halloween night, Terry was upset that their giant pumpkin wasn't outside and was determined to get it himself. Jackie's good sense prevailed. The best part of Terry was his being Harrison's dad. He knew what kind of father he would have liked to have had, and he was going to try every minute of every day to be that for his son. He succeeded. He opened up Harrison's mind to be curious also, and together they explored their world. Terry instilled a respect for money and taking care of it in Harrison. He showed him that working hard is good and so is taking care of responsibilities. Terry St. Thomas was a big hearted softie. Jackie and Harrison meant everything to him. It's said a lot, be he truly was one of a wonderful kind. Mass of Christian Burial for Terry will be celebrated at 11:00 am Friday, December 2, 2016 in Christ the King Catholic Church, 52473 SR 933, South Bend. Graveside services and burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
