Sharon (Hall) St. Amant, daughter of Rozell Broos Hall and Dorothy (Wilson) Hall, was born June 29, 1950 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2016 in MD Anderson Cancer Research Hospital in Houston, Texas, at the age of 66. Sharon, or “Sherry” as many friends and family call her, received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) from Southeast Louisiana University in Hammond, LA. She started as a floor nurse at Earl K. Long Charity Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and moved on to Ascension General Hospital as an E.R. nurse. She eventually became accredited in Psychiatric Nursing Specialty and worked in a supervisory capacity in a Chemical Dependency unit at Baton Rouge General Hospital. Later, she moved on to her main interest of Home Health Nursing and worked the Baton Rouge area for several years. As her parents aged, and her mother became infirm, she moved to Alabama and initially did similar work through Mercy Medical in Daphne, Alabama, and then was a Staff/RN/Charge nurse at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center in Foley, Alabama. After leaving Alabama, she worked as a travel nurse and did stints in Connecticut and San Francisco, California. Eventually, she settled in Missouri to help with the care of her beloved, brother-in-law, Allan Conrad, while he battled Multiple Myeloma cancer. She worked as a nursing care manager for Oxford Home Health out of Springfield, Missouri, until her illness. Sharon loved the heart of her work which was often with children and she fought fiercely for their needs and the needs of her “vent” and disabled or medically dependent patients. Her job duties included overseeing the care of adults and children who were ventilator dependent, had tracheostomies, gastrostomy tubes, urinary catheters, PICC lines or PORTS, pacemakers, phrenic nerve stimulators, and IPV treatments. She also provided instruction to those recently diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis who needed to give themselves an injection to help alleviate some of their disease symptoms. In addition, for the last 6 years, Sharon taught orientation to all new LPN’s at Oxford HealthCare. Above all, Sharon truly loved and respected her co-workers in the Oxford Health System. Sharon grew up attending St. Paul United Methodist Church in Harahan, Louisiana. In later years, she attended Marshfield United Methodist Church. Her circle of friends in the Marshfield area, were a source of comfort and security for her. She will also be dearly missed by her nine, very dear, high-school friends, the “Ya-Yas” (of New Orleans), who were a life-long source of hilarity and enjoyment for her. She was preceded in death by her parents; Rozell Broos Hall and Dorothy (Wilson) Hall of New Orleans, Louisiana, and in their retirement, Elberta, Alabama, and her brother-in-law, Noel Allan Conrad. Survivors include her two sons, Derek Jason St. Amant, and his wife, Katherine (Stelly) St. Amant, of Bullard, Texas, and Jefferey Ryan St. Amant, and his wife, Mia (Mayer) St.Amant, of Shreveport, Louisiana, and her step-son, Jonathan Owen St. Amant, and his wife, Celeste (Cazayoux) St. Amant, of Shreveport, Louisiana, and 5 grandchildren, Sam, Allee, Hayden, Marleigh, and Belle St. Amant. Survivors also include her two sisters, Linda (Hall) Conrad, of Marshfield, Missouri, and Deborah (Hall) Sellers, and her husband, Clyde Adrian Sellers, of Lafayette, Louisiana, and 6 nieces and nephews (total), Terri (Conrad) Schroeder, Cristi (Conrad) Gamble, Julie Conrad, Brandon Conrad, Jillian Sellers, and Gavin Sellers. Her love, gentleness, and light will be sorely missed by all. A Memorial Reception celebrating Sharon’s life will be Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the Clubhouse at Whispering Oaks Golf Course (“Marshfield Country Club”) in Marshfield from 3:00-5:00 p.m. A private, family graveside service will be held earlier in the Marshfield Cemetery, under the direction of Fraker Funeral Home, Marshfield. In lieu of floral donations, the family respectfully requests all monetary donations be made to the American Cancer Society for AML Research.
