Auburn - Richard Ernest "Dick" St. Amand, 81, of Lewiston passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 24 at The Hospice House. He was born in Waterville, son of the late Antonio and Carmen Michaud St.Amand.

He graduated from Lewiston High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy on the USS Wasp during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1954. He was proud of his service to his country and his French heritage. Dick married Patricia Parlin July 10, 1954 at Sacred Heart Church in Waterville. She passed away in 1998. He was employed as a meat cutter for Wilson Meats, then for the government as an inspector and subsequently by Fred’s Vending. Dick was an avid follower of the Winslow Black Raiders and a huge sports enthusiast. His companion of 13 years, Rena Blanchette, was very much a part of his life. They would enjoy playing cards with their friends, walking together hand-in-hand and meeting their coffee group friends.

He is survived by a daughter, Lorna Verville and husband Ron; two sons, Mike St.Amand and Jeff St.Amand and wife Elizabeth; his companion Rena Blanchette, nine grandchildren, Erik and Evan Verville, Dusti, Danielle and Randi Lynn St. Amand, Desiree Stricklang, Charlene Simental and step grandchildren, Alex and Angela Gregoire. Dick also had seven great grandchildren, Mya, Skylar,Trevor, Alexis, Rylee, Ryese and Nico, and his cat Bingo whom he loved and enjoyed. He was predeceased by his wife, mom, dad and sister Velma "Lollie" King.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial gathering Saturday from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM followed by U.S. Navy military honors at the funeral home.
