Lucien A. St. Amand, 90, of Acushnet, passed away on Monday, May 14, 2012, at the Southeastern Mass Health & Rehab Center in New Bedford. He was the husband of Evelyn (Davignon) St. Amand with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.

Born in Acushnet and a lifelong resident, he was a son of the late Clement and Alphonsine (Patnaude) St. Amand. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Mr. St. Amand was a general contractor for Lucien St. Amand and Sons for nearly 40 years until his retirement. Lucien’s interests included gardening, fishing, watching sports, gambling and playing cards with family and friends. He loved the time spent with his grandchildren whom he adored.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Theresa Fleming and her husband Dennis of Acushnet, Rita Thomas and her husband Donald of Tarpon Springs, FL, Roland St. Amand and his wife Susan of E. Freetown, Peter St. Amand and his wife Sharon of Taunton, Normand St. Amand and his wife Joanne of Brockton, Linda Loranger and her husband Gerard Jr. of New Bedford, Yvette St. Amand and her companion Lynn Drayton of New Bedford, Jeanne Andrews and her husband Thomas of Assonet, and Raymond St. Amand and his wife Joanne of Fairhaven; his brother, Girard St. Amand of Acushnet; his sister, Lorraine Bigler of CA; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Clement St. Amand, Jr., Aurelle St. Amand, Angela Turek, Yvette St. Amand, Juliette Coelho, Yvonne Blais and Helenda Bergeron.

His funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 10am in St. Francis Xavier Church, 125 Main St., Acushnet. Visiting hours Thursday 4-7pm in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
