Jeannine Poirier, 79, formerly of West Bridgewater died peacefully in her home in Winslow, ME on August 6, 2011 following a lengthly illness. She was born in Sorel, Quebec Canada on March 27, 1932, the daughter of the late Edmond and Rosanna St. Amand.
At the age of 2 she moved to Chicopee, MA, and relocated to Bridgewater in 1977. She married Armand 'Pete' Poirier formerly of Sandwich, MA, on May 9, 1954 and had 2 children. Jeannine spent 18 happy years working as a waitress at Lorenzo's Restaurant in Middleboro, MA, where her love for her co-workers and customers brought her the enduring friendships she continued to enjoy throughout her later years. Jeannine and her husband, Pete, enjoyed sharing their home with a number of family members and friends throughout the years. Those in need of a home knew their door would always be open. Jeannine moved to Winslow, ME in 2009, where she made new wonderful friends and enjoyed her new home. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Jeannine was predeceased by her son Michael, who died September 25, 1981. She is survived by her husband of 57 years Armand 'Pete' Poirier, her daughter and son-in-law. Lisa and Arthur Kish, her brothers Regine St. Amand and Gerard St. Amand, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St., Bridgewater Friday at 8:00 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Anns Church West Bridgewater at 9:00 AM. Calling hours Thursday, August 11th from 4-7 PM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery West Bridgewater.
