Elizabeth Ellis St. Amand of Jacksonville, FL, passed away Sunday (May 13, 2007).
Born in Montgomery, AL, on November 12, 1927 her family moved to Jacksonville when she was a young girl. She was a long time resident of Jacksonville and was 79 years old. She retired from Vistakon, a subsidiary of Johnson and Johnson, Inc. in 1994, where she helped establish the quality control program implemented for Acuvue contact lenses. After her retirement from Vistakon she enjoyed many years of travel. Mrs. St. Amand resided in the Hartford area many years before returning to her Southern roots in Florida.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Ellis of Coconut Grove, FL; her granddaughters, Darlene P. Sherman of Kittery, ME, and Cheryl L. Pierson of East Hartford. There are five great grandchildren, Derek Pierson, Brendan Pierson, Rachel Sherman, Brittany Merchant and April Merchant.
On Monday, May 21, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Glastonbury at 10 a.m. followed by internment next to her daughter, Susan H. Pierson in Green Cemetery, Glastonbury. Funeral arrangements are being made through Mulryan Funeral Home of Glastonbury.
