Alyre St. Amand, passed away peacefully, Saturday (April 29, 2006). He was surrounded by his loving family at his home in Suffield. He was tended to with great care by the staff of St. Francis Hospital of Hartford, the VNA of Suffield, and Kathy Ostrowski who made it possible for him to remain at home for his final days.

The son of Lucille (Roberge) Riley of West Hartford and the late Gerard St. Amand, he was born in Grand Falls, New Brunswick, Canada, and raised in Hartford.

Alyre was an employee of the town of Granby for 22 years. He had a great passion for his motorcycle, something he was able to share with his beloved daughters.

He is survived by his daughters Rene and Charlene, of Suffield; his two brothers, Gilles St. Amand of Windsor, and Rejean St. Amand of Wethersfield; three sisters, Diane Hooker of Hartford, Linda St. Amand of Coventry and Ann Marie Lafayette of New Hampshire; and two half-sisters Christina St. Amand of Windsor and Juslina St. Amand of Florida; 15 nieces and nephews, and many loving friends. He was predeceased by his brother Edgar St. Amand and his sister Ginette St. Amand.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday 8 p.m. in the chapel of the Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St., Suffield. His family will receive friends on Tuesday prior to the service from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the request of his family.
