Avis de décès : M. Douglas Patrick St. Amand ( - 2005-05-23)

At Linhaven on Monday, May 23, 2005 in his 80th year.

Loving husband of the late Margaret Stevens (February 1, 1999). Dear father of Rodger (Colleen), Gord (Margit), Kathie, Jan and Judy Dunphy (Fred Longley) of St. Catharines and Carole Foote (David) of Pickering. Loved Bubba of Lori and Jodi, Steven and Stephanie, Tasha, Shawn, Doug and Kristen and Tara. Great-grandfather to Ryshiah. Brother of Elaine (Joe) Leblanc of Barrie, Gord (Velma) and Mary (Cec) Walker of Sault St. Marie. He was predeceased by his parents D'Arcy and Clarissa St. Amand.

Doug moved to St. Catharines from Victoria Harbour in 1942 and shortly after began working at McKinnon Industries. For many years, he worked part-time selling furniture at Dunn's Bestway. After 45 years, he retired from General Motors and took up "Ship Watching". He was a founding member of the Ship Watchers Society and spent many years taking photos and collecting memorabilia about the ships that sail along the Welland Canal. The Captains of the ships always looked for Doug to raise their shipping company's flag and responded with a blast of their horn.

A private family service will be held. Arrangements entrusted to the HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 75 Church St., (905) 684-6346.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Memorial Bench Program; please forward your cheque to the funeral home and make payable to the City of St. Catharines. A bench will be placed near the anchor donated in his memory located on the Welland Canals Parkway behind his former home.

Thank you to the staff of Linhaven for all their care and compassion and to the Rev. Lynne Corfield for her prayers and spiritual support.

"2U AHOY Dad".
