George St. Amand, 88, of Lawton St., Fall River, died Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Theresa (Blanchette) St. Amand. A lifelong resident of Fall River, he was the son of the late George and Philomene (Harrison) St. Amand.
A former assistant scoutmaster, he was a payloader and backhoe operator for the Fall River Gas Co. for 33 years, retiring in 1978.
Besides his wife of 62 years, survivors include a daughter, Elaine Strachan and her husband Frederick of Lyman, Maine; a daughter-in-law, Lorraine St. Amand of Tiverton; 2 sisters, Jeannette Lafleur Dulude of Lincoln, RI and Flore Marcotte of Fall River; 2 grandchildren, Stacy Negley and Scott St. Amand; 2 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late David St. Amand and the brother of the late Aime St. Amand, Mary A. Dauphinais and Rhea Roy.
His funeral will be held Saturday at 8:00 a.m. from the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in St. Theresa Church, Tiverton, at 9:00.Burial, Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Large parking area and barrier-free entrance to the rear of funeral home.
