Helen A. (Vargalis) Wiseman-St. Amand, 93 of 395 Mill Street formerly of 41 Henshaw Street died Thursday, July 31st at home after a long illness.

She leaves her husband of 35 years, Albert St. Amand; 2 daughters, Teresa H. Belanger of Worcester and Frances A. Mantha of Auburn; a stepdaughter, Maxine B. Hatley of Burlington, NC; 20 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; many nephews and nieces. Her former husband, James J. Wiseman died in 1967; a son, James F. Wiseman, a daughter, Lillian H. Smith, Poirier, a brother, Stephen Vargalis, a grandson, James P. Mantha and a great granddaughter, Chera-Lynn Brunelle predeceased her.

She was born in South Boston the daughter of Stephen and Mary (Kavalis) Vargalis. Mrs. Wiseman-St. Amand was first employed by MKM Hosiery Mills Co. in Boston; she relocated to the Rochdale plant where she became foreperson and later ran their cafeteria. She worked as a receptionist and bookkeeper for Avalon Beauty Salon in Worcester, owned and operated a diner for the workers of St. Lawrence Seaway in Messina, NY and returned to Worcester in 1958 to the Norton Co. where she entered data for many years, retiring in 1973. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church and a member of the Norton Company’s golf club.

The funeral will be Monday, August 4th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Sunday, August 3rd from 5:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.

Son époux, Albert F. St. Amand, est le fils de Joseph St-Amand et de Marion Drolet; le petit-fils de François St-Amand et d'Emma Desjardins; l'arrière-petit-fils de Joseph St-Amand et de Joséphine Gauthier. Il est un descendant de Michel Lebrette dit St-Amand.
