At the Grand Falls General Hospital, July 20, 2003, Mrs. Bertha St-Amand Martin passed away at the age of 84 years. She was the wife of the late Sylvio St-Amand by first marriage, and of the late Archille Martin by second marriage. Born at Saint-Andre in 1918, she was a daughter of the late Marcel and Annie Levesque.
Mrs. St-Amand Martin was formerly a member of the 'Dames de Sainte-Anne' and also the Grand Falls Golden Age Club.
She was predeceased by three sisters Monique Martin, Corine Langlais and Albertine Durepos and two brothers, Felix and Joseph Levesque. She is survived by two daughters, Rejeanne Poitras (Victor) of Saint-Andre and Anne-Marie Desjardins (Ghislain) of New Denmark, three sons, Hermel of Saint-André, Neree of Ottawa and Gaetan (Eileen) of Campbellton, ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren, three sisters, Mildred Nelson of New Hampshire, Jeannette LeBlanc (Guy) of Lower Sackville, N.S. and Pauline Arnold (Wayne) of Fredericton, one brother, Lewis Levesque (Mildred) of Fredericton, sister-in-law, Pauline LeBlanc of Moncton, brothers-in-law, Louis Martin of St-Leonard-Parent, Tom Langlais of Saint-Andre and Joseph Durepos of Drummondville, Quebec, as well as several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by the family of her second husband, Valmont Martin (Rose-Marie) of St-Hubert, Quebec, Mario Martin (Pierrette) of Saint-Leonard, Fernande Laforge (Rodrigue) and Nicole Martin of Grand Falls, Micheline Desjardins (Georges) of Saint-Andre, Colette Laplante (Alyre) of Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, Linda Duval (Marc) of Ottawa and Marise Michaud (Steven) of Drummond, as well as the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Resting at O'Regan's Funeral Home, 515 Everard Daigle Blvd., Grand Falls with visiting hours Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. Her funeral will be held Wednesday, July 23rd at 4 p.m. from the Saint-Andre Roman Catholic Church, with interment to follow in the adjoining cemetery. Arrangements are by O'Regan's Funeral Home Ltd.
