Richard D. St. Amant, 43, of South Glastonbury, died Wednesday (Aug. 24) in the Veterans Administration and Medical Center, West Roxbury, Mass. He was born in Hartford, son of Rita (Chamberland) St. Amant of South Glastonbury, and the late Pierre St. Amant, and resided in Glastonbury for many years.

In December of 1970 he joined the U.S. Air Force, and retired in March of 1992. During his service time he was awarded the following decorations: The Air Force Commendation Medal, The Air Force Good Conduct Medal with five oak leaf clusters, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, the NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon, The Air Force Longevity Service Award with four oak leaf clusters, The National Defense Service Medal with one bronze service star, The Air Force Long Tour Ribbon with two oak leaf clusters, The Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon with five oak leaf clusters, The Air Force Training Ribbon, The Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze service stars, The Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with one oak leaf cluster, and The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Besides his mother, he leaves two daughters, Melinda St. Amant, and Melissa St. Amant; a brother, Robert St. Amant, all of South Glastonbury; a sister, Jeannine Wilson; and a nephew, Jesse Wilson, both of Rocky Hill.

The funeral will be Saturday, 9:15 a.m., from the Farley- Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Ave., Glastonbury, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., in St. Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Road, South Glastonbury. Burial will be in the Veteran's section of Neipsic Cemetery, with full military honors. Friends may call at the funeral home today, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
