Avis de décès : Mme Anne Elvire Saint-Amand (Phanord) (1934-10-07 - 2017-04-28)

A great person loved by all, formidable in her demeanor and comportment. A beautiful and wonderful soul, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, ANNE ELVIRE PHANORD, born SAINT-AMAND in Gonaives, Haiti on October 7, 1934 departed the Earth and joined the Heavens on Friday, April 28, 2017 at home with her family. After a terminal diagnosis of congestive heart failure, and a period of courageous convalescence in dignity and peace, she had a heart attack.

Man Vivi, was an impressive person. She was the second child of seven children, the firstborn daughter, of Franck and Francine Saint-Amand. Man Vivi spent her life through early adulthood in Haiti, and she attended primary and secondary school in Gonaives. In 1954, Man Vivi moved to Port-au-Prince with her mother and siblings after the death of her father. Man Vivi, at an early age had a gift and talent for sewing from her mother. She perfected her skills to a passion, practicing on dresses for dolls. She developed that passion to the professional level and became a sought-after seamstress for her unique creations which were revered. While in Port-au-Prince, she attended secretarial school, and became an elite typist and stenographer while managing her haute couture shop. She married Gerard Phanord in 1957 and they had 4 children. Man Vivy travelled the world, living in Kinshasa, Zaire with her husband and sons prior to settling in Brooklyn, New York.

In New York, Man Vivi earned her degree in Business, despite working, sewing, and raising four children. Man Vivi was proud to have worked in Haiti at the National Palace as a secretary. In Zaire, she taught stenography and in New York she started as a typist and progressed to a claims examiner. Man Vivi was the big sister, and “mom” to her younger siblings, and when her nieces and nephews came along, Man Vivi enjoyed spoiling them all with her beautiful designs. Man Vivi enjoyed being part of a large family and showered unconditional love to everyone.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Eli Saint-Amand, half-brother, Gracia Saint-Amand, sisters Antonine Saint-Amand and Justine Day, and her son, Franck Gerard Phanord. She is survived by her husband, Gerard Phanord, children: Serge Phanord, Bettina Hamilton, and Carmel Townsend and their families. Her surviving siblings include Francine Valbrune, Alix Saint-Amand, and Jacqueline Armand and their families. Man Vivi will also be remembered fondly by her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 12, 2017 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 16000 SW 112 Ave, Miami, FL 33157, Church Viewing - 11:00 A.M., Funeral Mass – 12:00 Noon
